Since 2008
The history of Active England dates back to 2008 when our founder, Will Cairns visited the Loire Valley with his family.
He saw how, every summer, thousands of cyclists rode from chateau to chateau linking the region’s best sights together using active travel.
Living in Oxford at the time, Will couldn’t understand why international visitors weren’t doing the same on his doorstep. The colleges of Oxford, Blenheim Palace, the Cotswolds and Bath are some of the finest jewels in England’s crown and what better way to experience them by bike or on foot? And so, Active England was born.
