Your Itinerary
Kick off your adventure with an optional pre-night stay in Edinburgh. Take time to explore the host city of the 2027 Grand Depart with visits to the historic Royal Mile, the iconic Edinburgh Castle, the Instagrammable Victoria Street and the stunning Arthurโs Seat. Or perhaps as a warm-up to your very own Grand Tour, hop on a hire bike and ride out to Holyrood Park, Holyrood Palace and the Scottish Parliament. This is the route the 2023 Road World Championships took on its journey eastwards to Glasgow โ a race won by Mathieu Van der Poel.
Accommodation for pre-night โ Royal Mile Radisson Collection
Your journey starts in Edinburgh, the picturesque city that will kick off the historic 2027 Tour. The men's race is set to commence on July 2nd, passing through Midlothian and the Scottish Borders on its way to Carlisle. After connecting with your guides and experiencing a day of warm hospitality in the city, we watch the team presentation at the 900-year-old Edinburgh Castle. This evening, weโll stay at the iconic Peebles Hydro, a haven for cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts alike, providing the perfect place to relax after an exhilarating day on the bike.

Today's ride takes you along the serene rural lanes of Stage 1 of the race. Heading south and west from Peebles, we pass through Cardrona and Innerleithen - picturesque Scottish villages - before stopping for lunch in Hawick. This afternoon, itโs hands in the air time, as we celebrate crossing from Scotland to England. But as the peloton will continue deeper into England, for what will likely be a sprint finish in Carlisle on Stage 1, we'll conclude our ride at the tiny Cumbrian hamlet of Netherby. Afterwards, we'll have a short 45-minute transfer to Keswick, where youโll check into your delightful lakeside hotel. The Borrowdale Gates Hotel is a welcoming country-house retreat nestled in the heart of Borrowdale Valley, celebrated for its traditional charm, cosy lounges with log fires, and outstanding local cuisine.
Distance: ~70 miles
Accommodation for night 2: Borrowdale Gates
Accomodation: Peebles Hydro
Todayโs parcours is for the climbers. We put our legs to the test in the stunning Northern Lake District, navigating the scenic rural roads into Buttermere Valley, passing Loweswater and Crummock Water along the way. As we soak up the miles, there will be no snacking from musettes, as we step off the bike for a lavish lunch at High Stile Kitchen in Buttermere. Enjoy loyal fayre, and fuel up for the challenge of the breathtaking Honister Pass (2.3 miles at 7%). This is a corker of a climb, one of the hardest in the UK, loved and loathed, in equal measure, by local riders. With the KOM crested and the mountain points one, itโs only a case of spinning back to the hotel for a well-earned refreshment or two. If you'd like a more relaxed pace after yesterday's long ride, we can enjoy a stroll around Buttermere instead of heading out to ride.
Distance: 20-34 miles
Accommodation for night 3: Borrowdale Gates
Accomodation: Farlam Hall
After a leisurely early morning down by the lake, sipping coffee, we drop into Keswick as the cyclists and their teams gear up for Stage 2. After seeing the riders depart, you'll embark on a transfer south (approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes) towards Chester for lunch. Chester is one of England's most historic cities, renowned for its Roman walls, striking medieval architecture, and the distinctive two-tiered Rows shopping galleries, all nestled along the River Dee. In the afternoon, enjoy a gentle recovery ride through the Dee Valley, meandering along the rolling lanes towards Aldford and Farndon before heading to your hotel, just over the border in Wales.
Distance: 30 miles
Accommodation for night 3: Pen-y-Dyffryn
Accomodation: The Stonehouse Hawes
Following a short morning transfer, and before we catch the 2027 peloton for the final time, we ride the race route. The riding along the Anglo-Welsh border is wonderful, with rolling terrain, quiet lanes, and proper views. A perfect mix of low-traffic backroads, varied elevation, and scenery that flips between lush river valleys, ancient woodlands, and open hilltop moorlands. The area is dotted with cafรฉ stops and market towns (such as Hay on Wye โ โThe Town of Booksโ) that are made for saddle-weary legs. After watching the tour pass by at a carefully chosen spot on the route, weโll transfer to Cardiff to soak up the final night of the 2027 race on UK shores.
Distance: ~55 miles

Carbon Footprint
Whatโs the Number?
Nearly everything has a carbon footprint. Together with ecollective, weโve measured the carbon impact of not only every tour we operate but our entire business. Weโve taken into account greenhouse gas emissions across the business including office, travel, website, vehicles, accommodation, activities, food, suppliersโฆ
What does the number mean?
Weโre going to improve this by measuring and reducing our footprint each year. That means working with our suppliers to make changes that have a more positive impact on us and the planet. What does this look like in reality?
- Redesign trips to reduce our carbon impact
- Working closely with all our suppliers across England to join us on our decarbonisation journey
- Switching up our vehicle fleet to electric
- Investing in projects that permanently remove carbon from the atmosphere for any emissions that remain.
Weโve got a long way to go but weโre on our way to net-zero
Weโre committed to reducing our impact on the planet and working towards a sustainable future. Weโve taken ownership of our carbon footprint and are on a mission to reduce our emissions year on year.
