Active England are looking for a new team member in background operations and tour guiding, as a summer working opportunity. This role includes working with equipment such as vans, bikes and trailers, alongside a customer facing opportunity of guiding our travellers on day trips. The role has the opportunity to travel in the local area and potentially across England, alongside joining a social and engaging team of staff and guides for Active England.

Active England Tours (AET) is an active travel company providing an unrivalled premium experience for active inbound North American tourists and residents in England. AET runs a high number of beautifully curated, high-end, active tours including guided, self-guided and bespoke cycling, walking, swimming and wellbeing adventures. From our origin in the Cotswolds, we have become the premier provider of active holidays across England. We run trips in Devon, Cornwall, The Lake District, Yorkshire and Northumberland. While running our own direct tours we also work with numerous business partners within the industry, creating and operating their English active holidays. Our mission is to open up England as a destination for active travel and continue to be the go-to travel company to book and work with! We are proud to show off our incredible countryside, seaside and rich heritage.
Required skills and abilities
The role is very flexible as a freelance contract; location dependent with most work being carried out in the Cotswolds (Burford), local to our office/warehouse. No qualifications required other than a UK clean driving license. As a company, we will offer future qualification opportunities in guiding, alongside training in operations which will include use of our vehicles, bicycle maintenance and trailer use. Applicants must be freelance, pay to be discussed on application.

Main responsibilities
We are looking for applicants who are hard working, flexible and have customer facing experience. The role can vary from meeting guests and welcoming them onto their cycle holiday – to driving a trailer of 20 bikes across the country! If you are enthusiastic, enjoy the outdoors and want an engaging and flexible working opportunity, this may be for you. We are looking to for someone ASAP to begin working with us until October 2024, for 1-2 months of training, as an opportunity to be contracted from April – October 2025.
2024 training paid at a freelance day rate to be discussed at interview.
2025 contracted on a salary basis to be discussed at interview.
