We’re bursting to get outside, and though we are making the most of our daily exercise in the glorious Spring, we are looking forward to running our tours again later this Summer and into the Autumn. We think Autumn walking will be worth the wait this year with people craving the countryside, fresh air and the great outdoors.
Autumn (fall) arrives from September until late November and is a wonderful season for walking, temperatures are mild and cool, there is not burning heat in the middle of the day, and all around you as you walk the landscape changes. The trees begin to turn amber, orange yellow and red. Leaves cover the ground, mists rise from the valleys and often the days are crisp with a bright blue sky. Autumn is the best time to take photos in the England, the crisp mornings, families grab their wellies to jump in great mounds of leaves and catch them as they fall in dazzling spirals through the air. The air feels clean and clear and crisp and smells of all the joys of the outdoors, the breeze in your hair, and the promise of a mug of hot chocolate or of a well earned traditional pub meal awaiting you after your walk. Bangers and mash, toad in the hole, apple pie and custard, sticky toffee pudding; they all taste better after a long walk through the countryside.
