Travel with us to the English Caribbean (a.k.a. Cornwall) where magic exists, pirates reside and mermaids swim with us in the hidden coves. It’s an enchanting county that is recognised on the global stage as England’s jewel, with colourful fishing villages, golden sands, and epic coastlines. Next up is Devon, home to a wild, rugged windswept moorland which will be your home for the final night.
Our guides are ‘local’, they were born and bred in the south – and they will enable you to ‘live like a local’, show you the unusual, and give you the authentic Cornish and Devonshire experience. So journey with us in 2023 as we cosy up in gorgeous coastal and countryside hotels, enjoying backdrops of stunning coastal scenes with sparkling waters, and moorland vistas. Experience the local buzz of fishing harbours, travel back in time as we journey across Dartmoor and trial extraordinarily good local food and wine.
Travel out from London and relax on a beautiful country estate in the heart of Somerset, the gateway to the west country. Somerset is a land of myth and legend, and remains a thriving slice of English culture and countryside. The Newt is a Georgian space reimagined with acres of splendid gardens, nestled woodland, farmland and cyder orchards. It is a place of wonderment and the perfect rest spot before journeying to Cornwall.
After a 3 hour drive to The Pig Hotel, you will hike out from Trevose to Stepper Point and into the famous fishing harbour of Padstow. Following a delicious lunch at Paul Ainsworth No.6, spend time ambling between the quaint streets with an ice cream in hand, before journeying back to your hotel to trial some delicious local wines at The Pig.
Transfer to Tintagel, situated in the centre of a rugged and romantic coastline with a legendary connection to the mystic King Arthur, a Celtic Briton. After exploring the magical castle and grounds you will be transfered to Port Isaac (the village of Doc Martin) for lunch at Nathan Outlaw’s fish kitchen. We will then hike to Rock, via Pentire Point, before enjoying dinner back at Rick Stein’s favourite pub, The Cornish Arms.
We travel from the north coast to the south coast and meet local chef extraordinaire, Rupert Cooper, for a foraging walking experience along the south coast, before lunching with him in Philleigh. We continue our walk along the headland before jumping on the ferry to St Mawes.
We hike out from the hotel around the headland, exploring St Mawes castle, before we track along the Percuil River. We meet a local to learn how to shuck oysters with some camel valley sparkling wine.
From coastal vistas to rugged and wild moorland – today we hike across Dartmoor, through picturesque villages and forests. We will walk and talk with a local expert who will journey us back in time to understand more about medieval Devon. Our final hotel of the trip is Bovey Castle where grandeur meets tranquillity.
With a heavy heart it’s time to bid farewell to Cornwall and Devon. The changing seasons bring with them a multitude of sweeping changes to the landscape, so a repeat visit is always on the cards.
