Lake District Adventure Holidays

Paddle, Scramble and Climb - Explore the Lake District!

Get stuck into an exhilarating active adventure holiday in the Lake District with like-minded people. Your days will filled with fell walking, mountain biking and gorge walking up rugged ghylls. When we’re not climbing Scafell Pike – England’s highest mountain, we’ll be on the River Esk to wild swim, kayak and SUP. Spend your days outdoors and your evenings unwinding around the fire pit with home cooked food and a beer in hand, or relaxing in the local pub, with great people around you! Embrace the wonders of nature away from the crowds, deep in the Lake District countryside.

Adventure Weekends and Active Holidays

“At your own pace” is our motto, so there’s no pressure to do a full 20 mile hike, if that’s not your thing! Add in a SUP or canoe on the deepest lake in England and an abseil of a rock face, and you’ll have a full, active day – before heading to the pub in the early evening! Don’t feel obliged to do all of these activities, so if you fancy an afternoon off to stroll over the fells or read your book in the sun, go for it. This is your adventure!

If you want an adventure closer to London, our Cotswolds Adventures offer water sports and rolling hills without the long journey time. Perhaps you want to push yourself and complete the Coast to Coast cycle challenge!

Top things you need to know before visiting the Lake District

How fit do I need to be for an adventure trip?

Our tours are designed for those looking for an active weekends, mini-breaks and weeks away. All activities can be adapted but a ‘give it a go’ attitude goes a long way! Some of our water sports activities require a basic ability to swim 50-100 meters. If you would like to chat to one of our team about your particular trip, fitness and activity levels and what is involved in coming on one of our tours, please get in touch and we would be happy to help.

What is the best way to get to the Lake District?

We recommend travelling into the Lake District by train. If you are travelling from London there are regular direct 3 hour trains into Oxenholme.

What do I need to bring, do you have a kit list?

For all our tours we will send out kit lists in plenty of time before your tour. We provide all the equipment so you won’t need to bring anything other than enthusiasm, some walking boots and trainers you are willing to get a bit wet, some normal swimming kit, comfortable walking and cycling clothes and we’ll do the rest!

What are the glamping pods like in the Lake District?

The Woodland Pods we use, at The Woolpack Farm in Eskdale Valley,  are cosy and comfortable with their own en-suite shower room, comfy double bed, kitchenette with fridge and kettle and a large double sofa bed.

Each of the Pods have their own outdoor space with a table and chairs and chiminea, so you can sit out in the evenings and enjoy the natural sounds of the countryside.

On our fire pit evenings we gather around the camp fire to enjoy home-cooked food, a free beer and wine fridge and an evening under the stars!

Can I join an adventure tour as a solo traveller?

All our trips are open for single travellers to join, these trips are a great way to meet social, like-minded people, active and looking for a great holiday. “As a single female, I would not hesitate to go on another Active England trip as a solo traveller”. S.G.
