We believe in providing unparalleled active family adventures and experiences through the magnificent English Countryside. It is the mix of biking and additional activities with the opportunity to visit some of the most iconic places of interest – Windsor Castle, Oxford, Stratford Upon Avon, The Cotswolds, Blenheim Palace, Bath and Stonehenge which sets AET apart and immerses our guests in England at its finest.
With biking or walking for part of each day, there are a range of exciting additional activities including canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, water based inflatable obstacle courses, as well as mazes, farm parks, the Harry Potter Dining Hall and many other attractions along the way. Some families also branch out to Harry Potter World, Legoland and other attractions – just ask and we will do our best to help.
The tour starts at London Paddington railway station where we pick-up all guests from the clock on Platform 1. We then jump on the bus and travel the one hour to Windsor where we step inside the world of King and Queens and take in everything Windsor has to offer. Packed with regal history at every turn; home to the Queen, the site of Henry VIII’s grave and monarchs since 1066, Windsor is a “must see” for all the family. We also bike around 10 miles around Windsor Great Park, a wonderful traffic-free introduction to this regal parkland and our bikes. Guests stay in the heart of the city of Oxford for the first night of their tour.
Mileage: 10 miles
Blenheim Palace, the World heritage site, is arguably England’s greatest Palace. Blenheim has an illustrious history, including as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, its stunning architecture and Capability Brown landscaped estate. We walk through the back gate right into the parkland and loop around towards the Palace. In the afternoon we head down the road for a walk through Oxford and dinner in this city of dreaming spires! There is the fun option of punting in the afternoon along the stunning river Thames. We return to Oxford for the evening and your second night’s stay.
Mileage: 4-6 miles
In the morning we bike to the stunning Broadway Tower overlooking the northernmost extreme of the Cotswold hills, cycling onwards to the famous golden stoned Chipping Campden and up towards the beautiful gardens at Hidcote. Following lunch we ride over rolling hills to visit the Slaughters and Bourton on the Water, some of the best known and quaint towns the Cotswolds has to offer. In the afternoon we head to Burford, the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’, for our evening.
Mileage: 20 -40 miles
In the morning we travel first to Avebury Stone Circle (Stonehenge but bigger!) and then on to Stonehenge itself for a full Neolithic experience. In the afternoon we cycle into Bath to visit the Roman Baths, with the option to explore the Georgian architecture including The Royal Crescent, the city’s connection with Jane Austen and of course to shop! We finish the day at our hotel in the centre of Bath.
Mileage: 20-25 miles
We start the morning by getting set to kayak and SUP on the beautiful River Avon which runs through the city. After lunch by the river, we head into Bath for a tour of the famous Roman Baths and a chance to explore the city in the afternoon. Our final night stay is in the centre of this spa city.
Mileage: 6-8 miles
Our tour finishes after breakfast as our guides help you with all of your ongoing travel arrangements! Many choose to spend an extra day or two in Bath, and Bath’strain station is just a short walk from our hotel.

My 15 year old daughter and I took the five day trip through the Cotswolds this August. We had a wonderful time. The rides were hilly and challenging for this out-of-shape cyclist, but just right for my daughter. The guides have me plenty of encouragement and I was able finish each day’s ride. It was a nice mix of rides, plus sight seeing. We saw Windsor Castle, Blenheim Palace, Hicote, Oxford and many charming villages. The accommodations were very comfortable and food was great. All-in-all, I’d do this again.
