Discover the joys of river gliding, lake swimming, swooshing and splashing, on our exploration of swimming in the wonderful Cotswolds and along the Thames River. The young Thames is a peaceful flowing river that bends and twists through the Cotswolds and ideal for swimming. Glide alongside a grey heron and paddle straight to your beautiful meadow picnic lunch or pint in a riverside pub! We have created the perfect balance of exploration and relaxation, immersing guests in some of the most iconic swims in the English countryside.
Our Cotswolds swimming holiday is for all types of swimmers and are planned with different options every day to ensure there is enough for all levels of swimmer. Our guides provide motivation, good cheer and full safety support on all swims, ensuring each guest can swim as much or as little as they like, for safety and enjoyment we suggest swimmers can swim 400m as a minimum.
We know there is nothing more reviving and refreshing than swimming and dipping in the hidden swimming spots, rivers and lakes throughout the Cotswolds, with two or more swims planned each day, and up to 4 miles of walking, we’ll take you on a journey along the young Thames like no other in a magical week-long journey that you’ll remember for a lifetime.
Arriving into Swindon / Lechlade at 11am, we’ll meet you and take the short transfer to the Thames at Lechlade for an introductory swim. Other options on this day (in case of poor weather) involve an introductory swim in Lake 86 in the Cotswolds Water Park for some open water swimming in the glorious inland Lakes. Lunching in Lechlade we journey by foot and by water from Kelmscott to Radcot and onto Tadpole Bridge – all wild swimming gems making for a glorious afternoon meandering downstream.
We head out for a refreshing early morning dip before breakfast – the best way to brush away the cobwebs! In the morning we’ll walk from Tadpole Bridge through Chimney Meadows Nature Reserve towards our picnic lunch at our favourite swim spot along this section of the river.
Taking a short transfer to just North of Oxford, we walk from the pretty village of Eynsham to Wytham Woods, picnicking on the banks of the river near Kings Lock. From here we swim along Port Meadow for as far as you wish to swim towards the City of Oxford – you wouldn’t guess that we were on the outskirts of the city! The tour ends in a Port Meadow pub where we change and transfer to the station for farewells and ongoing travel.

We take care of everything for you, with your accommodation pre-booked, all transfers between swims in our own vehicles, you’ll not need to worry about your luggage transfers, lunch and dinner bookings as it will all have been taken care of for you. All you need to do is relax, immerse yourself in the journey ahead and enjoy.

The best way out of London and other major cities into the heart of the Cotswolds is by train. The direct journey from London Paddington to Swindon is only 50 minutes. We start our tours straight away so come in your walking clothes, ready to walk to your first swim of the weekend! You may also drive, using the station parking in Swindon.
Absolutely! We bring like-minded people together on these trips, to enjoy a group atmosphere, get stuck into some great activities, water sports, hikes and to share a well-deserved meal with at the end of each day.
We require guests to be competent swimmers. All guests must be able to swim 400m unsupported before joining this tour. For all our tours we will send out kit lists in plenty of time before your tour. We provide tow-floats for each guest and ask that they bring their own wetsuit and swimwear. Guests will also need to bring suitable walking clothes and it is especially important to have sturdy footwear with good grip (walking boots are best). Many of the coves and lakes we access are across rough and steep terrain and it is vital to have good grip and ankle support for this tour. Indoor trainers are not suitable.
