Our 6-day, 5-night tour will lead you through our stunning Cotswold countryside, through fields and over rolling hills to stay in honey coloured Cotswold villages and bustling market towns and we’re going to do it in as green a way as we can. All travel is on public transport and with zero use of plastic and food sourced in as locally as possible we’re delighted to operate this tour in as sustainably as possible. The Cotswold hills are perfect walking country, taking winding lanes and national footpaths, you will feel transported back into England as it was before mechanisation, where sheep and dry-stone walling were the biggest industries. We’ll also visit Oxford, Churchill’s Blenheim Palace and some of the most wonderful Cotswold towns and villages known to man!

Our walking holidays are designed to be completely relaxing. We pick up guests from Oxford train station and head straight out into the stunning Cotswolds for a walking tour to remember. Walk as much or as little as you like each day, our guides can tailor your tour to your preferences, with shorter or longer routes available daily.
We collect you at 8.30am from Oxford Railway Station and we’ll set out on foot straight away, with a stunning walk along the Thames, through Port Meadow, granted to the people of Oxford in 1086, and onto Wolvercote before looping back around to Oxford via the canal. We’ll tour some of the colleges and get the inside track on this great city. After lunch, at ethically focused local restaurant, we’ll punt down the Cherwell where the locals go to the Victoria Arms for a pint before returning to Oxford Station where we catch the train to Moreton in Marsh and our hotel for the night.

Flat walking
A day dedicated to the Cotswolds. In the morning catch the bus to Chipping Campden one of the archetypal Cotswolds towns and the start of the Cotswolds Way. We’ll walk through the fields to the stunning gardens at Hidcote, renowned for its series of ‘outdoor rooms’. After lunch at Hidcote, we’ll stroll to one of the best pubs in England, the Ebrington Arms, where the local beer, a “pint of Yubby” will slip down very well! From Yubberton we’ll walk back to Chipping Campden and back to Moreton in Marsh for the evening.

Gently Rolling Walking
We head out from the hotel to the Moreton in Marsh train station where we’ll hop on the train to Hanborough and we’ll walk through the back gate of Blenheim Palace, where we’ll start our walk around the Capability Brown inspired gardens. With 2000 acres of parkland to explore, today’s walk is a stunning wander around lakes, serpentine streams, woodland and into the Palace, where Winston Churchill was born, and tour and it’s formal gardens in the afternoon. Blenheim is leading in its sustainable practices and has pledged to be carbon neutral by 2027 We then hop back on the train to Moreton in Marsh in the late afternoon.

Flat Cotswolds Walking
From Moreton in Marsh, we jump on the bus for a 15 minute transfer to Stow on the Wold where we marvel at the market square, perched high up in the Cotswolds. We’ll walk to Bourton on the Water, and have lunch at the local bakery, “the Bakery on the Water” and have a good look around before walking to the Slaughters (Upper and Lower), two of the most famous villages in the Cotswolds. Later in the afternoon we walk back to Stow on the Wold for afternoon tea.

Gently Rolling Walking
In the morning we head back onto the train to Kingham where we take a walk towards Charlbury. There are options to visit Daylesford Organic Farm and also Clarkson’s Farm – now we are aware Jeremy Clarkson is a controversial figure, but there is little doubt that he is trying to champion sustainable practices at his new venture – other walking options are available! We lunch at a great local pub, with a 20 mile menu and finish our walk Charlbury, where we’ll get back on our train for our last nights celebration together.

This tour is rated 2/5 for difficulty meaning it’s appropriate for guests going for a good walk and can handle an incline or two. The terrain we cover is varied. We’ll enjoy some rolling hills, and a few steeper walks which will be a bit more demanding. Your holiday, however, will be tailored by your guide to suit your individual preferences and rewarding views are guaranteed! Daily distances range from 4-10 miles.
