Discover (or re-discover) the joys of sea swimming and cove and cave exploring, on our stunning swimming weekend in Dorset, along its rugged coastline. We have created the perfect balance of exploration and relaxation, immersing guests in some of the most iconic swims including Lulworth Cove, Man ‘o War Beach, Kimmeridge and Studland Bay.
This swimming holiday is fuelled by cake, wonderful local food and good company!
Inclusive and for all, our swimming holidays are for all types of swimmers – the “dippers”, the head up breast-strokers and the 10k warriors, with different options every day. Our guides ensure there is plenty of swimming for all levels (for safety and enjoyment we suggest swimmers can swim 400m as a minimum).
Come on a journey through Dorset like no other – joining together the most stunning sea swims and walking some incredible stretches of the South West Coast Path to get to them, on a magical journey that you’ll remember for a lifetime. We know there is nothing more reviving and refreshing than swimming and dipping in the hidden swimming spots, coves and beaches of the Jurassic Coast; with two or more swims planned each day – it’s a heavenly weekend escape!
Arriving into Wareham at 11am, we’ll meet you at the station and take the short transfer to Man O War beach for an introductory swim before lunch. Getting to know our group over a picnic lunch on the beach we have the option for an afternoon swim around the coast to Durdle Door, or to walk along the coast and hop into the sea for a shorter swim around this famous landmark. Durdle Door is definitely the greatest draw on this Jurassic Coast; to swim through this ancient archway is a rite of passage. The clear indigo and turquoise water below and the limestone columns above are truly awe inspiring making this the perfect swim to start your weekend. Resting up in the evening we head to the pub for a well-deserved dinner and pint!
This morning’s swim is from the famous Lulworth Cove out and around to the iconic Stair Hole. This catacomb of collapsed sea caves and tunnels has created a shallow lagoon with three routes out to the ocean. With a series of small sea holes perfect for sitting, jumping and diving – this is a true swimmers’ playground. Lunching at Durdle Door we swim in the afternoon at Kimmeridge Bay, perfect for dipping and exploring as well as for more serious swim training. An option for this afternoon is to swim in Chapman’s Pool beach, a remote and wild spot, beautiful in its isolation and the best place to get away from the crowds. Returning to our hotel in the late afternoon there is plenty of time to relax before dinner out in a local restaurant.
Popular for ‘sea-bathing’ since the railways allowed the Victorians a summer seaside break, we head to Swanage for our final day of swimming along this beautiful stretch of ocean. The afternoon swim takes place along Studland Bay. With gently shelving bathing waters this sheltered beach is ideal for sea swimmers and home to the famous annual Studland Seahorse Swim event. Transferring back to Wareham station in the mid-to-late afternoon, we say our farewells and help with all ongoing travel arrangements.
