Get stuck into an active week away with a like-minded group, enjoying sea swimming, surfing, SUPing (Stand Up Paddleboarding), cycling down disused railway lines, clifftop walks and coasteering. Spend your days outdoors and your evenings around the firepit, with homecooked food, a beer in hand, and a great group around you!
Rediscover nature away from the crowds from North to South Devon, on the coast, the moors and on disused railway lines. Our days are full and active but without the rush. Don’t feel obliged to do all of these activities, if you fancy an afternoon off to stroll along the beach or read your book in the sun – that fits in well with our Devon itinerary too.
If you would like to cycle more each day we would be happy to show you some faster ‘racing snake’ routes! Our guides can add more mileage and steeper inclines for those wishing to stretch their legs on this adventure week away!
Easy train journeys from London, Bristol or the Midlands, take you to the start of your trip or come by car and we’ll transfer you back at the end of the tour. on this tour you will immerse yourself in wonderful Devon countryside, with a wide range of activities, relax in the evenings with our free beer and wine fridge and in some of the best pubs known to man! We’ll start your holiday straight from the train station so just bring yourself, some active wear and a sense of adventure and we’ll cover everything else.
Led by our outstanding guides, and using all our equipment, we know every bend in the road, river or track, beach or headland, and cafe stop, local pub and vineyard to suit all tastes! You’ll not need to worry about any of your luggage transfers, bookings or equipment as it will all have been taken care of for you.
Arriving into Tiverton Parkway for 11am, either by train or by car, we’ll meet you at the station and take the short transfer to the North Devon coast. Get to know your group over a seaside lunch in the pretty town of Ilfracombe (you’ll recognise the iconic Damien Hurst statue ‘Verity’ that towers over the pier, guarding the harbour entrance). In the afternoon we have an introductory swim at the famous Tunnels Beach Lido. We then walk in the late afternoon along Woolacombe Bay to Barricane Beach for a dip and ‘curry on the beach’ – a fabulous little pop-up café serving Sri-Lankan curries right on the sand, with time to get to know your group – the perfect start to this holiday!
This morning’s walk takes us along the South West Coast Path to Watermouth Cove for a mid-morning SUP / canoe / kayak from this stunning cove to Broadsands beach known by our guides as James Bond beach. With a lovely picnic by the sea for lunch, we paddle or swim in the afternoon to Combe Martin where we relax with a pint / afternoon tea overlooking the sea. In the late afternoon we travel back to our accommodation for dinner and a chance to relax and unwind.
It’s time to jump on the bikes as we head south towards Dartmoor. We bike along the wonderful Tarka Trail, a delicious flat disused railway line which takes us all the way to Dartmoor where it joins the Granite Trail, down Dartmoor’s Western edge. We drop in for a swim at the Chagford Lido – a lido in the middle of Devon fed by the river Teign and then have afternoon tea at Gidleigh Park a Michelin 2** restaurant before staying at a famous Dartmoor coaching inn in the heart of the National Park.
In the morning we head into the heart of Dartmoor to the tucked away Sharrah Pool. Sharrah Pool is only accessible by foot – a beautiful 2 mile walk through the National Park to discover its location! This otherworldly spot, surrounded by woodland, is a gem of Dartmoor and an incredible swimming experience. We then transfer the 5 miles to Totnes and canoe down the Dart river all the way to Dartmouth.
We transfer to Hope Cove for a beautiful morning paddle via either Kayak or SUP to Thurlestone Rock – famous for its unusual natural arch, created over centuries by the waves. We lunch in a seaside café and there is the option – at low tide only – to walk / wade to Burgh Island. When sea conditions are right there is the option to SUP / Kayak or even swim around Burgh Island. We dine back at the hotel for our last night celebration.
After a relaxed breakfast we transport guests back to Plymouth/Tiverton and say our goodbyes, helping with all ongoing travel arrangements.

The best way to Devon is either by train or by car. The direct journey from London Paddington to Tiverton Parkway is 2 hours and it’s 2 hours also from Birmingham and an hour from Bristol. We start all our tours on a Sunday when the traffic is at it’s lightest, but we do need to be mindful of the build-up of traffic to get through Bristol.
