Get stuck into an exhilarating active weekend break or longer adventure holiday in the Lake District with like-minded people. Your days will filled with fell walking, mountain biking and gorge walking up rugged ghylls. When we’re not climbing Scafell Pike – England’s highest mountain, we’ll be on the River Esk to wild swim, kayak and SUP. Spend your days outdoors and your evenings unwinding around the fire pit with home cooked food and a beer in hand, or relaxing in the local pub, with great people around you! Embrace the wonders of nature away from the crowds, deep in the Lake District.
“At your own pace” is our motto, so there’s no pressure to do a full 20 mile hike, if that’s not your thing! Add in a SUP or canoe on the deepest lake in England and an abseil of a rock face, and you’ll have a full, active day – before heading to the pub in the early evening! Don’t feel obliged to do all of these activities, so if you fancy an afternoon off to stroll over the fells or read your book in the sun, go for it. This is your adventure!
You may prefer a weekend break near London making a splash in the Cotswolds, while if you’re keen to get out on the sea check out our Cornwall Adventure Holidays. Or you can push yourself to complete the Coast to Coast cycle challenge!
The countryside was picture perfect with great little villages and sites to take in all along our... read more rides. Each day was so rewarding. The historic sites are so incredible to see and learn more about. The B&B's were perfect! The people so welcoming and friendly.
Loved our bike tour. We highly recommend taking the tour!
Thanks for the amazing memories folks.....Lisa and Jacques
The walk up to Sharrah Pool was a good hike (which we enjoyed), but anyone with slight mobility issues might have struggled. Otherwise - perfect!
If you love wild swimming, this is a brilliant short break. I'm even thinking about booking again for next year.
One of the best things we did was to modify the last day of our 6-day tour to include a light cycling day with walking tours of Lower Slaughter, Stow-in-the-Wold, Bampton and Cirencester. I really appreciated learning the history of each of the towns we visited as well as experiencing their unique beauty.
Led by our outstanding guides, we know every route up the hills (fells), every bend in the river, gentle and not so gentle scrambling routes and the best pubs to relax in each evening. You will not need to worry about any of your luggage transfers, bookings or equipment as it will all have been taken care of for you.
An Adventure Holiday brings together the best of everything the countryside has to offer for active people, with multi-activity days allowing guests to try water sports, cycling and more as well as getting to know a group of like minded people round the fire-pit in the evening. There is scope for experienced paddlers and cyclists to push themselves, while beginners can get a taste of new sports, exploring the the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, coasteering the cliffs of Cornwall, and scrambling up gorges and mountains in the Lake District. Our guides look after all the details, allowing you to push yourself – or simply relax – and take in life in the great outdoors.
The Lake District is easily accessible by a range of transport. We include transfers from Oxenholme station, with direct trains from London, Birmingham, Manchester and other major cities. Guests can also drive to the Lake District.
Yes! We’ll get straight to the activities once you hop off the train, relaxed from your journey and ready for your week or weekend of adventure. Whether that’s a pub dinner, an afternoon bike ride or a walk through the countryside we’ll send out a kit list in advance and let you know what clothes to arrive in.
For all our tours we will send out kit lists in plenty of time before your tour. We provide all the equipment so you won’t need to bring anything other than enthusiasm, some trainers you are willing to get a bit wet, some normal swimming kit, comfortable walking and cycling clothes (and wet weather gear) and we’ll do the rest!
All our trips are open for single travellers to join, these trips are a great way to meet social, likeminded people, active and looking for a great holiday. “As a single female, I would not hesitate to go on another Active England trip as a solo traveller”. S.G.
